As the new Congress opened this year, with liberals in control of both the House and Senate, we knew things would be bad—and we were right. The Democratic majority, as well as some Republicans, seemed intent on calling up anti-family and immoral legislation faster than we could stop them.

As soon as liberals took control of Congress, they hatched a quick plan in the House to erase President Bush’s courageous policy against tax-paid research on embryonic stem cells. Focus on the Family Action ran the following ads during the week of June 28. Senators from Alaska, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Arkansas, South Dakota and North Dakota are unwilling to support the Federal Marriage Amendment to defend and protect marriage in the United States. In response, FOFA ran ads in their hometown newspapers asking a simple question — why the senators don’t believe that every child needs a mother and a father — and urging people to call or visit their offices to express their support for the FMA.
